Alan is CEO of FORTUNE Media. He oversees the business and editorial operations of the media company, and is known for expanding its digital and conference franchises. Murray also writes a closely-read daily newsletter, the Fortune CEO Daily, that often addresses issues of corporate governance. Previously, Murray led the rapid expansion of the Pew Research Center’s digital footprint as president of that organization. He also was a reporter for The Wall Street Journal for more than two decades and wrote Revolt in the Boardroom and three other books.

She was the political anchor for CNN Headline News and has covered stories in Afghanistan, West Bank, Nepal, Libya, Jordan and throughout the U.S. She is the author of numerous op-ed pieces and three books, including the novel Our Girl in Washington. A graduate of Northwestern University, she began her career on Capitol Hill as communications director for Rep. Pete Geren. She is now executive editor of Film@11 Media, with a total audience of 10 million.

Diane M. Miller started her career as a classroom teacher, segued into curriculum creation, and co-founded Peoples Education, Inc. to publish the first authentic voice African American and Latino histories for children. As a founding member of the Education Committee at the Smithsonian Institution, she worked to enhance their effectiveness in K-12 schools. Diane creates the school curriculum guides for all BYkids films. Her current firm advises educational companies, districts, states and charitable organizations.

Bill McCarthy is the Head of the Hamilton School at Wheeler in Providence, Rhode Island, which is a “school within a school” model for students with learning differences. Previously, Bill was Head of Preschool and Lower School at Packer Collegiate Institute in Brooklyn, New York, and prior to that, he served as Director of Learning Support at the school in which he oversaw academic and social-emotional support for all students at the school. He is an experienced educator and leader who has spent over 20 years working in independent and public schools and organizations. He holds a Master’s degree from New York University in Social Work, a Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Emerson College, and additional leadership certificates and post-graduate training. He serves as an educational advisor to the Institute for Social-Emotional Learning and to the Thorn Tree Project.

An original founding BYkids board member, the late Albert Maysles was recognized as the pioneer of “direct cinema,” the distinctly American version of French “cinema verité.” His films include The Gates, Salesman, Gimme Shelter, Grey Gardens and Oscar-nominated LaLee’s Kin: The Legacy of Cotton. He received a Guggenheim Fellowship (1965), a Peabody, an Emmy, five Lifetime Achievement Awards, the award for best cinematography at Sundance (2002), and the Columbia Dupont Award (2004). Eastman Kodak saluted him as one of the 100 world’s finest cinematographers.

Dustin Liu is a Taiwanese-American and proud New Yorker currently living in the Bay Area where he is a Lecturer at Stanford University. As a Fellow at the Stanford Life Design Lab, he teaches the principles of design thinking and guides students as they develop their own answers to the tough questions in life, education and vocation. Outside of Stanford, he is a guide and facilitator in learning communities where he designs learning experiences and curriculum.
