After finishing a preliminary round of filming, Michael Martin and his mentors present a rough cut of his upcoming film to BYkids Board members, justice advocates and WNET executives.

BYkids is thrilled to welcome another wonderful class of summer interns. Sophie Attie (Washington University in St. Louis), Ben Goodfriend (Washington University in St. Louis), Devin Moore (Colorado College) and Josie Stern (Colorado College) will help us develop our new season and contribute to the BYkids mission.

Thank you to the Museum of the City of New York for having BYkids present at your 6th Annual Teaching Social Activism Conference: Intersections conference! We had a wonderful discussion about Faiza Almontaser’s film, POET AGAINST PREJUDICE and how to use the film to spark conversations about Islamaphobia, immigration and bullying.

Congratulations to 13-year-old filmmaker Edelsin Linette Mendez and the team on MY BEAUTIFUL NICARAGUA for winning the Short Documentary Grand Prize at the 2018 Silicon Beach Film Festival in Miami! BYkids is thrilled to partner with WNET on UNESCO’s International Day for Tolerance, November 16 to present what is happening in the world, with the goal of educating, inspiring, and fostering celebration of our differences.

Join us as we commemorate BYkids 10th anniversary with a screening and panel discussion of our acclaimed POET AGAINST PREJUDICE. On this day, we will honor those we lost by illuminating Islamophobia and the effects of the Muslim ban.
