From live poetry to hands-on art-making, the energy was electric and BYkids was proud to be part of it.
In the Stiller Auditorium, we screened POETS AGAINST PREJUDICE by Faiza Almontaser and I COULD TELL YOU ’BOUT MY LIFE by Michael Martin two bold, emotional, youth-made films created with world-class filmmakers to spotlight raw, real stories from today’s young voices.
One guest told us, “Film was very relatable and inspiring.” Another reflected, “What I love about documentaries is that they open your eyes without telling you what to think.”
And a line we will never forget: “Every kid is glitter you just have to have the right light on them.”
Our founder and executive director Holly Carter led a heartfelt talkback, helping us explore how storytelling can spark empathy, shift perspectives, and heal.
Thank you to everyone who came out, stayed present and celebrated the power of youth storytelling with us.
